Facebook: day two

contacts

09/01/2008 send to a friend

I have seriously never posted so much content on a single topic. But with Facebook, there’s lots to learn. Today it was how to send business notes and how to receive a hard message with a light heart.

For those of you who are sticking with me and following this experiment, you’ll know that I’m trying to use a Facebook profile and home business group, for the benefit of my business.

To be honest, I’m struggling to see the benefits but today I had a little help from my friends.

Sending a note

First up was Angela de Souza who sent a note relating to a new initiative being launched by her home business, D7 Recruitment She sent this to the members of her own Facebook group. I thought that was a good idea and hope to do something similar soon.

Receiving a note

Next in came a note from a so-called ‘friend’ who started with some harsh words but fortunately ended with some helpful advice:

Hi,

I'm not saying that you're unpopular or anything, but I noticed that you don't have a lot of friends on Facebook. What you can do is to upload your address book onto the site and it will check to see if anybody matches the email addresses (it says it doesn't use it for spamming, etc). Anyway, that's what I did and I was surprised who was up there, certainly people who I'd never have got in contact with because I wouldn't have thought they'd be there.”

So, once I’ve figured out how to do it, I’ll be doing that too. All in the name of a business experiment! – Emma Jones

Comment: I still can't find you on Facebook! I searched for 'Home Business' as a group, but this is not helped by the fact that 'home business' is a sub group in the group section already! What is the full name of your group?

Comment: It's Home business with lower case b if that makes any difference. If you're a garden office worker there's also one for you too. If you still can't find her, search for Shedworking, you'll find me and then can get to her that way (I'm one of her few 'friends' and the Home business group is on the top of my groups list).

Comment: Thanks for the tip about loading the blog. I've just done this. I've also been experimenting with Facebook. So far some very interesting contacts and heaps of utter drivel. I'm definitely going to keep going, but where do some people find the time.....

Comment: Found you! I like the Facebook link/photo thing you've put above. Is this something you can create from Facebook? If so, how? I'd really like to add this to my website.
