Space planning

From 1st October 2008 the Government is bringing in changes to planning rules and regulations that will make it easier to add extensions – like home offices – on to your property. Planning permission will no longer be required.
Plan of action
We receive quite a few emails from readers asking if they need planning permission to start a business from home. To answer this question, take a look at the feature on the link below.
If you’re planning to build an extension to your house, or a new building in the garden, then life will become a whole lot easier from 1st October.
That’s when the Government scraps the requirement for planning permission on new builds/extensions that meet certain criteria.
According to the Planning Portal:
“From 1 October 2008 an extension or addition to your home will be considered to be permitted development, not requiring an application for planning permission”
This is subject to the limits and conditions that you can view on the Planning Portal site.
It’s good news for home business owners who are looking to start up at home or add more space to accommodate a growing business. – Emma Jones
