What about the neighbours?

When working from home, it’s a good idea to keep the neighbours sweet, and on your side.

Follow these steps to keep harmony levels high between you and the folk next door.

  • Explain you’re running a business from home that shouldn’t cause them any disturbance.
  • Keep your promise and try to ensure minimum disruption.
  • If the business reaches a milestone, maybe host a party for neighbours.
  • Make friends with other local homeworkers so you can make the case that your homeworking is keeping money in the neighbourhood and an eye on the safety of the streets.

If you are expecting a day with a greater than usual number of deliveries/level of noise, let the neighbours know in advance and maybe deliver a bottle of wine to thank them for their co-operation.
